Orienteering

Orienteering is a sport that combines map reading and running. Competitors must find out their way between a series of checkpoints, called controls, as quickly as possible. The fastest person wins but navigation skills are more important than running speed. There’s no set route between the controls, so you must decide which way to go and then find your way there without getting lost. Events take place in all types of terrain including forest, open mountain, streets, and parks. No matter where the venue the concept of orienteering is the same.
