Sailing

Achill being an island has immense opportunities for varied sailing locations which includes open coastal waters, estuaries, and lakes. At the centre our sailing is based mainly from Keel Lake which is a safe, enclosed piece of water perfect for learning the basics of sailing.

Our sailing is taught from a Drascombe Lugger, a traditional 3 sail boat based off older fishing boat designs. It is a very stable boat and easy to sail and can comfortably sit 8 people making it the perfect platform to develop the skills and knowledge of sailing.

With its three-sail design teamwork is essential to control the boat because of this it is ideal for groups to develop their communication, decision making, problem solving and leadership skills.
